The last remains of the dogwood blooms remains on this this storm sewer lid. Interestingly, the storm lid is made in India and used on our streets here. I can't help to think of the closed down foundry in Lynchburg and how a cast iron lid could have been made there.

The Appomattox bridge was declared a National Historical site last year. Close to the bridge is this interesting historical marker about the popularizer of the banjo. Click the picture to read the sign. On the side of the bridge are the stars and bars of the Confederacy which is in much disput today.
